Conference venue

The Conference is taking place in the Monash University Centre, on the first floor of the Palazzo Vaj, a renaissance palace in the centre of Prato.  Details of the Monash Centre may be found here.


Getting There

On foot - Palazzo Vaj is a 15 minute walk from the main Prato Centrale train station and a 5 minute walk from the smaller station Prato Porta Serraglio.  Map.

By car - Take the A1 from Florence, follow signs for the A11 at Firenze nord and exit at Prato est.  From here follow signs to the centro.  Pay parking is available outside the castle, very near to the Palazzo Vaj.  Map.

By train - Prato is a 25 minute train ride from Florence.  Train timetables.

By bus - Prato can also be reached from Florence by bus.  CAP and Lazzi buses depart from outside the main Florence train station.

By air - Prato has regular train connections to: Pisa AirportBologna AirportFlorence (Peretola) Airport.  Taxis and regular bus services run from Prato to Florence airport.  All these airports have services for Italian and European connections.

Shops are usually open during the following hours:
  • Monday - 4.00pm to 7.30pm
  • Tuesday to Saturday - 8.30/9.30am to 1.00pm, and 4.00pm to 7.30pm.
  • Clothing stores may open later
